Your Initial Legal Consultation: What to Expect
So, you’ve got a consult here at Wirth Law Office and you’re unsure of what you’re really walking into. Hi, I’m Tahlequah Criminal Defense Attorney Aaron Grubb at Wirth Law Office, and in this video, we’re just going to talk about what you should be doing for your consult. A consult is usually about 30 minutes, so it’s not a whole lot of time to go over the complete intricacies of your case.
It’s important to know that we have very seasoned attorneys who can listen to your case overview and pick out certain details while dismissing irrelevant ones that won’t matter in court. So, make sure whenever you’re walking in, you have a good understanding of your case. Whether it’s a timeline or certain evidence, please have that readily available for the consultant, as it will help us better advise you on your possible case outcomes.
How to Prepare for Your Consultation
Other types of meetings we conduct occur after you’ve already retained us for your case. Specifically in criminal cases, it’s essential that you frame these discussions with the understanding that we are here to advocate for you. We don’t necessarily need your entire story at every consultation.
The way the criminal process works is that the state provides its version of events, and our role is to poke holes in that narrative. Only if it becomes necessary will we present our own version of events, which typically happens at trial. Before arraignments, preliminary hearings, or other dockets, our focus is on undermining the state’s case to advocate effectively for you.
