Understanding CHIRP Requests: Your Guide to Records
Do you know what a CHIRP request is? My name is Aaron Grubb. I’m a Tahlequah felony attorney at Wirth Law Office, and in this video, we’re going to talk about what a CHIRP request is.
A CHIRP request is whenever you are asking the OSBI, or the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, for basically any criminal records that a certain person has. These requests are made out to OSBI and typically cost around $15.
The Process of Making a CHIRP Request
To actually request the information, you need to provide specific details about the individual in question. This includes their first name, last name, and any aliases that they might have—this could be maiden names, nicknames, and other identifiers like a social security number.
Once you submit the request with the necessary information, the OSBI will be able to provide details such as mug shots, fingerprints, arrest records, and whether or not the individual is a registered sex offender. Additionally, they will inform you of any warrants out for their arrest.
